Chris’ law practice is devoted exclusively to personal injury. He represents people who have been seriously injured, people claiming disability benefits from their insurers and the family members of people who have lost a loved one.

Chris received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from York University in 1997. He received his Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2000 and his Masters of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2008.

Chris has appeared as counsel before various levels of Ontario Courts, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the Canadian Pension Plan Review Tribunal and the Ontario Disability Support Program Appeals Tribunal.

Chris has been asked by the Ontario Trial Lawyer Association and the Canadian Defense Lawyers to lecture at continuing legal education programs. He has spoken on topics including trial advocacy, case preparation and litigation strategy and other matters related to actions for personal injury and wrongful death. Chris has also regularly been asked to be a Judge for Sheridan College’s Paralegal Program moot trials.

Before entering law school, Chris volunteered to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces. As a former Infantry Officer and Platoon Commander, having received his Queen’s Commission in September 1997, Chris brings a tough, principled and calculated strategy to the practice of law.

Chris was one of the first to volunteer with OTLA’s Trial Lawyers for Veterans Program. He donates his time and legal experience to help wounded Canadian Forces Members access the rehabilitation benefits and assistance they have earned.

Chris is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, the Ontario Bar Association’s Insurance Law Section, the Advocates Society as well as the Executive Committee of the 48th Highlanders of Canada Officers’ Association.

In his spare time Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.

Carla Mateus is a law clerk and a licensed paralegal with The Law Society of Upper Canada. She has worked in plaintiff personal injury law since graduating in 2001. Carla is fluent in Portuguese and speaks some Spanish. She received her law clerk diploma with Honours from Humber College in 2001 and obtain her Paralegal License with The Law Society of Upper Canada in 2008.

She is a member of the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. As a licensed paralegal, Carla has participated in numerous mediations and Arbitration Pre-hearings before the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO). She has worked on and assisted with motor vehicle accident files at all stages of proceedings, both before the Courts and the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.

To maintain her keen skills, Carla frequently attends seminars and workshops to keep on top of the changes in the areas of rehabilitation and the Ontario legislation.
